The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) Executive Director Daniel Odongo has warned schools that are asking money from parents under the disguise of invigilation of students and pupils ahead of the final exams.

Odongo made the clarification before the parliamentary Budgets committee where he has tabled a supplementary budget of 10.4bnshs to enable UNEB conduct the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate E examinations with respect to the Covid-19 SoPs.

Odongo says in the coming UNEB final examinations, the board has registered a total of 1,181,940 candidates of which 749,807 of them are to sit PLE, 333,766-UCE and 98,367-UACE.

He says the money will be used to pay for invigilators and buy hand sanitizers, temperature guns and other items during invigilation and marking period.

Primary seven candidates are sitting their final examinations on March 30th and 31st while senior fours are starting their papers from February 29th to April 6th while senior sixes from April 12 through May 03, 2021.
