The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has released the 2023 examination time table with an increase of 13.5% in UACE candidature.

This year’s examinations time table will commence on Friday, October 13th, with the candidate’s briefing for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) level.

The first paper, Geography, is set to take place on October 16, 2023 and the UCE Examination will continue until November 17, 2023.

The Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) will take place from November 7th to 9th, 2023 with candidates’ briefing preceding the start of the exams.

The final set of exams, the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) is slated for November 10 to December 1, 2023.

Dan Odongo, the UNEB Executive Director while addressing the press at the Uganda Media Center in Kampala on Wednesday, noted the importance of making the timetable readily available to all candidates and ensuring it is displayed on school notice boards.

He further announced an increment of 12,690 UACE candidates which is approximately to 13.5% this year from 97,899 registered in 2022 to 110,579 candidates.

For UCE there is a 4.3% increase, while PLE registers a 10% decrease which is largely attributed to the panic amongst parents due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This year, a total of 1,224,371candidates are expected to sit for their final exams with girls exceeding boys according to the registration list making up 51% of the total number of candidates.

Odongo has appealed to the head teachers and center heads to display candidates’ lists for at least 60 days before the exams to allow ample time for corrections of their bio data.
