Uganda Martyrs University management is to review, identify and address themselves to courses, programs, compasses and all other factors that may be leading to the university’s stagnation and survival in the current environment.

 

This review will also look into all facets that may be leading to financial losses or not enhancing the university’s sustainability and its relevance to the community will be addressed.

 

This has been revealed by the university’s Chancellor also the Bishop Chairman of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, Rt. Rev Joseph Anthony Zziwa during the university’s 27th graduation ceremony held at their main campus at Nkozi in Mpigi district.

 

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja who was the chief guest challenged the grandaunts never to despise work adding that she is a vivid example who started from scratch and now she is the Head of Government Business in Uganda.

 

She promised to inform cabinet and President Museveni about his 500 million pledge to Uganda Martyrs University and on her behalf she donated 10 Million Shs and pledged another 50 million shs to the university in the next financial year.

 

Speaking at the first open graduation ceremony since the outbreak of Covid-19, UMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Patrick Kyamanywa underscored the demand for the University to prioritize I.T to further academics and research under the post Covid era.

 

He called on Government to support private education institutions especially at this time when the economy is hit hard due to the effects of the Covid pandemic.

 

Today’s graduation pulled a total of 1,543 graduands of whom 370 were Post Graduate, 3 PhD graduates, 17 with first class awards at Diploma, Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.

 

47% of the graduands were female while 51% were male and 6 students received their academic awards post-humously.

 

They have also nominated P.M Nabbanja as UMU’s diamond ambassador for her outstanding performance in all her administration roles.
