Heads of Political Parties organized under the Inter-Party Organization for Dialogue-IPOD have agreed to hold a multi-stakeholder national dialogue on political issues to answer the political questions lingering in the country following a hotly contested general election in January.

This was after the 3rd IPOD Summit meeting which was attended by the current chairperson Yoweri Museveni of the NRM, Norbert Mao of the Democratic Party and Jimmy Akena of the Uganda People’s Congress at Kololo Independence grounds today.

Currently IPOD is made up of members parties like the ruling NRM, DP, UPC plus FDC and Justice Forum-JEEMA who boycotted today’s Summit meeting.

DP’s Mao who called for the summit meeting says the spirit required of IPOD members is the spirit of putting Uganda first by adopting dialogue and not violence to bring about change in Uganda’s politics.

Meanwhile, President Museveni, who is currently Chairman of the IPOD summit, welcomed the idea of dialogue saying it’s always been part of the NRM since inception.

He also promised to direct the Director of Public Prosecution to review cases of people who are allegedly missing, whom he claims were arrested for engaging in criminality to ensure that they get a safer landing.
