Uganda has released another group of 13 Rwandan nationals and immediately deported to their country on crimes related to threatening her national security.

 

These now totals to the 39 Rwandan nationals that have been held in several detention centers following the recent release and deportation of nine Rwandans.

 

Addressing the media in Kampala, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sam Kahamba Kuteesa says the released Rwandan nationals is part of Uganda’s effort to normalize relation with her neighbor that fell apart at the beginning of last year, leading to the closure of Gatuna border

 

The 13 are divided into four categories include those three deported for espionage and security related offences in 2019 but later returned to Uganda and rearrested. They are Ntirushwa Maboko, Jean Bosco Habomugisha, Narcise Ukwigezi.

 

He further says that those in category B are also three who are spouses to the deportees in Category A include Ansiira Ukwitegesetse, Christine Mukamazima, Hyacinthe Dusangeyezu.

 

In category C, they are four suspected of involvement in criminal activities and repeated offenders while in Category D are those under trial in General Court martial.

 

When asked about Ugandans and Rwandans killed at the border Noel Mucyo, First Counselor Rwanda High Commission said those killed were smugglers who were trying to enter the country through ungazetted border points.
