Uganda is documenting the security experiences of people leaving at the border points with the neighboring DR. Congo.

The exercise targeting stakeholders in Kasese, Bundibugyo, Bunyangabu and Ntoroko Districts is being conducted under the Northern Corridor Integration Project.

The Northern Corridor is the transport corridor that links the East African Community-EAC landlocked countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan with the Port of Mombasa, Kenya.

The corridor also serves Northern Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ethiopia.

The Project has 16 clusters centered on the areas of infrastructure development, energy, information technology and socio-economic development.

Amanda Magambo, the Coordinator for Regional Peace and Security for the project under the Ministry of Internal Affairs-MIA says a joint permanent commission between Uganda and DRC directed cross-border cluster meetings on a quarterly basis is needed to harmonies on community concerns.

She adds that a joint cross border meeting between the two countries will be held at the end of March this year where the gathered community issues will be tabled for discussions and recommendations.
