The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has been grilled for illegally spending 6.4bn shilling without authorization and approval from the management board.

According to the Auditor General’s report of 2019/20, UCAA had a budget of Shs42bn for the expansion and modernization of the airport but later spent Shs49bn.

In replying to the query, the UCAA Manager In charge of Aerodrome Engineering and Planning, Ronald Twesigye said that the additional amount of 6.4bn arose as a result in the change of the contract prices and architectural scope plans of the airport expansion.

However, this didn’t justify the additional vehement of the shs6.2bn thus demanding for either a board approval or else to refund the overspent money.
