Police in Rukungiri has tear gassed a procession of a Presidential Candidate, Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde as he approached Rukungiri Stadium where he had set to launch his campaigns thus afternoon.

 

This was after the Rukungiri District Police Commander Henry Kintu attempted to stop the procession of Tumukunde’s supporters, who defied his plea and continued moving towards the venue in a huge number.

 

Kintu was against the number of supporters that was exceeding the required 200 people guided by the Ministry of Health to be on a single political rally, as he explains.

 

However, Tumukunde’s supporters paid deaf hears to the police and insisted on walking to the venue, claiming that the candidate is their son whom they regard as their revolutionalist for the brighter future.

 

Later, Tumukunde expressed his dissatisfaction over police’s actions of throwing teargas towards his people yet they were peaceful.
