The Archdiocese of Kampala has today celebrated the 55th Archdiocesan day since its inception in 1966 in a colourful way with strict observance of standard operating procedures due to existence of Covid-19.

A few chosen members from the 69 Parishes attended the celebration held at Lubaga Cathedral while each of the Parish held mass the same time to pray for the Archdiocese and deposed soul of the late Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.

The same function saw the Honourable welcome of the sons of the Archdiocese Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Mary Kizito of Alwal in South Africa and Papal Nuncio retired Archbishop Augustine Kasujja.

The Apostolic Administrator of Kampala Archdiocese Rt. Rev. Bishop Paul Ssemogerere started by acknowledging the contribution of the past Archbishops, late Emmanuel Nsubuga, Late Cyprian Kizito Lwanga and Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala for their contributions and achievements that the Archdiocese is celebrated of.

All the achievements have been marked like the readings and the Archdiocesan theme say making love with one another and respect of human dignity as its put in 2020 Papal Francis’ Encyclical Fratelli Tutii we are all brothers. If the country observed this there would not be murders and torture which has claimed lives of Ugandans even when there is existence of Covid-19, corruption and deceit.

As the Catholic Church ends the Month of October of Mother Mary let Ugandans reflect about their life and work against any form of abuse to humanity and the country at large.

On the two special guests welcomed back home Bishop Joseph Mary Kizito of Alwal in South Africa and Pope Nuncio Emeritus Archbishop Augustine Kasujja, Bishop Ssemogerere hailed them for their exemplary service.
