Two teachers at Nakasongola Army Secondary School who are battling charges of assaulting a student have further been remanded.

 

It is alleged that on 25th April this year, Corporal Jackson Bitaryebwa and Private Enoth Tindimwebwa beat up Andrew Kasita a Senior One student causing bodily harm.

This was after they interrogated Kasita over accusations that he had stolen books of classmates and sold them to a woman who sells pancakes as well as fried cassava but he denied the allegations.

Kasita sustained severe injuries on the buttocks and back after he was caned leaving him hospitalized at Bombo Military Hospital.

On May 10, this year, the duo appeared for the first time before Colonel Abdullah Adebasuku, the Chairman of the Nakasongola Barracks Unit Disciplinary Court and was charged with assault.

The two denied the charges and were remanded to Nakasongola Prison until the 23rd of this month.

This morning, they have appeared for mention but they have again denied the allegations.

Col. Adebasuku has remanded them to Nakasongola Prison until June 6, this year reasoning that this is meant to allow the prosecutor to gather more evidence and witnesses.
