Police are still hunting for an unknown assailant who allegedly attacked a Somali National City businessman and his wife at their home in Rubaga division last night.

The victims identified as Bashir Tahalil (38 0 a businessman from Equatorial Mall, and his wife, Shukri Jama, a housewife were allegedly attacked at around 4am in Bulange A Cell, Nsibambi Road, Rubaga Division in Kampala.

According to the preliminary investigation, the unknown robber gained access to the victims’ residence by jumping over the perimeter wall after cutting the electric wires and later broke into the house, specifically entering through the kitchen using the back door.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that Tahalil confronted the assailant who later seized his Samsung Galaxy phone before fleeing the scene.

Owoyesigyire notes that after believing the robber had left, Tahalil and his wife opened the door only to find the assailant still present that immediately used a pistol and fired two shots, with one bullet striking Shukri Jama in her right thigh.

He says they have recovered two empty cartridge casings from behind the victims’ house for forensic analysis and a team of officers from the Division have conducted a thorough examination, and documented the evidence, including photographs for investigations yet Jama is currently receiving treatment at Medipal Hospital.
