Stronger Weekend Products adulterated – NDA

The National Drug Authority -NDA has confirmed that the Stronger Weekend products Stronger Weekend products manufactured by Thembomar Investment  that include Pineapple Still Table Wine are adulterated with Sildenafil Citrate chemical also known as Viagra.

Sildenafil Citrate is a drug for erectile dysfunction which must be used under strict prescription by qualified medical personnel as it has serious side effects which include extreme abdominal complications, respiratory and heart problems, renal failure, and sometimes leading to coma and even death.

Dr. James William Tamale, the NDA Head of Region says that laboratory sample analysis for this small bottled drink was undertook after a search by the NDA together with the Uganda Police Force at the factory in Mpondwe where two batches of The Stronger Weekend -Opaque Beer were impounded.

Dr. Tamale says they have already closed down The Stronger Weekend factory and urges the Uganda National Bureau of Standard to take regulatory action and ensure that the manufactures and distributors are compelled to recall all the supplied batches of these products with immediate effect for destruction.

Abiaz Rwamwiri, the NDA Public Relations Manager warns the public against using The Stronger Weekend products that are packed as beer or wine and directs bars, guesthouses, shops, supermarkets and general merchandize shops to stop the sale or stocking of this product with immediate effect.
