The District Chairman of Mukono district Andrew Ssenyonga has decried of the degenerating moral principal governing elections in Uganda.

Ssenyonga who stood on an independent ticket for the same seat says it’s sad to see all candidates thinking of vote rigging, violence and cheating especially those supported by the ruling party NRM.

Shortly after voting Ssenyonga told reporters in Mukono town that the incident that has been experienced at Seeta where the electoral official was forcing members to sign Declaration forms or DR as early as 10 am almost when the election was just starting an action which sparked off disruption was arranged by NRM members to rig him of his votes.

He says all this was done in presence of the police and electoral official. It took the efforts of Edward Isanga, the officer in Charge of Seeta Police station and the Operations officer only identified as Atwine who intervened in the matter when the dirt had been caused in the election.

It has now emerged that Ssenyonga has stepped down from the elections a few minutes to the close of the voting polls citing electoral malpractices.

Ssenyonga announced his withdrawal from the race shortly after casting his vote at Seeta Church of Uganda Primary School playground, which hosts seven polling stations and had experienced some outflows in the exercise.

The Other candidates in the Mukono LC V Chairperson race were Rev. Peter Bakaluba, the NUP candidate, Godfrey Kiregga Musisi, the Democratic Party (DP) candidate, Nicholas Munyagwa and Peter Nsubuga, both independents.
