The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has this Tuesday afternoon informed parliament that Rt. Hon Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah is sick and was flown out of the country for further and specialized medications.
Among who read a statement in parliament that was debated on, said that Oulanyah was referred abroad after consultations between his personal doctors and Mulago hospital for further medical attention.
She said that Oulanya was flown out of the country on February 4th last week and is said to be improving.
Meanwhile, she has asked the Members of Parliament and the public to disregard all social media reports indicating that Oulanyah is in critical condition adding that even before she entered the plenary on Tuesday, she first spoke to her boss who even sent a message of love to all Ugandans and MPs.
On Sunday, Uganda Radio Network exclusively reported that the Speaker had been flown out of the country on Thursday to Seattle in the United States for specialized treatment.
It is also reported that he was flown aboard one of the Uganda Airlines Airbus A330-800neo aircraft.
Whereas details of his sickness are still scanty, it is reported that Oulanyah who last chaired a parliamentary sitting in November has been in and out of hospital for a long time.
