Speaker Among to probe MP Kawalya over distorted information on Ebola

The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among is to conduct independent investigations against the Rubaga North Member of Parliament Abubaker Kawalya over accusations that the Ebola outbreak is a political government strategy to control the economy.

This comes after the State Minister for Primary Health Care in the Ministry of Health Margaret Muhanga accused Kagainst the shadow minister for Kampala Abubaker Kawalya who is also the Shadow Minister for Kampala for spreading false information about the Ebola epidemic.

The Minister accused Kawalya for making these statements on a local radio which the MP denied saying he can’t make such a statement when even his constituency had lost two people due to Ebola.

Kawalya also accused Minister Muhanga for concocting false statements against his personality, thus demanding for an apology and withdrawal of the minister’s statement from the hansard of parliament.

Kawalya therefore requested parliament to advise Minister Muhanga to concentrate on sensitizing the public on how to prevent the spread of Ebola virus, and also look for sources of funds to facilitate medical workers than spreading diversionary information against him.

However, in her response, Speaker Among rejected Kawalya’s request saying she will first conduct a personal investigation into the matter before any action is to be taken.
