As the world celebrated Christmas on Sunday, some traders in Kampala opened up for business to work as usual due to the economic crisis in the country.

Normally at such a day, people are expected to be at home and at places of worship to partake the celebrations.

However, on the streets of Kampala, few have displayed Christmas trees, lights, cards, among others.

Daniel Muwezi, a dealer in food stuffs at St. Balikuddembe market said most business people in Kampala work for daily food so if they miss work on Sunday, following days after Christmas their families will starve.

Yasin Matovu , another dealer in shoes operating at Ham Shopping GroundsĀ  says they would be home celebrating Christmas if it was not for the two years COVID-19 lockdown which affected the business sector, now they cannot waste any day home in such a situation.
