At least 10 Religious Sisters have taken their perpetual vows of poverty, chastity and obedience at the Catholic Religious Institute of Sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix – Gogonya on Wednesday.

 

This has been during the annual Institutional day marked every 4th of January in a Eucharistic and thanksgiving celebration led by the Archbishop of Kampala Paul Ssemogerere at their mother house in Ggogonya, Kisubi along Entebbe road in Wakiso district.

 

The Religious Sisters that have taken the perpetual vows include Sr. Maria Josephine Namugerwa, Sr. Maria Cotilda Nambirige, Sr. Maria Judith Nantongo Nandugga, Sr. Maria Josephine Magdalene Nakazibwe, Sr. Maria Susan Ninyikiriza, and Sr. Maria Mildred Nakyondwa.

 

Others are Sr. Maria Nababiro, Sr. Maria Sarah Nalumu and Sr. Maria Agrippina Gonzaga Najjemba.

 

At the same function, three Nuns celebrated their Silver jubilee including Sr. Maria Winfred Nanteza, an accountant at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat- UCS, Sr. Maria Theopista Auma and Sr. Maria Magdalene Nambuusi.

 

Four other religious sisters celebrated their golden jubilee (50 years) including Sr. Maria Faustina Namukasa Nansubuga, Sr. Maria Margaret Fredrick Nakabonye, Sr. Maria Theopista Nakalembe, and Sr. Bernadetta Subiru Nagawa while two celebrated their 60years of Sisterhood Sr. Maria Inviolata Namakula and Sr. Maria Angelorum Nannyonjo.

 

The Archbishop of Kampala Paul Ssemogerere called on the Religious Sisters to desist from greed that is failing many in the country to recognize and support those in need.

 

The function was also attended by the Chairman of the Uganda Episcopal Conference Bishop Joseph Anthony Zziwa, Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza, the Bishop of Lugazi Diocese and Rt. Rev Matia Ssekamanya, the Bishop Emeritus of Lugazi Diocese.
