Luweero District administrators together with the area police are hunting for seven teachers after they allegedly accessed the government pay roll through fraud.

Luweero District Human Resource Officer Bernard Okello reveals to reporters that the suspects were unearthed during the validation exercise of all teachers by the District’s Education Service Commission.

The exercise found that the seven possessed forged minutes which they purportedly got from the commission.

According to HR Okello, the wanted suspects now on the run, used the forged minutes to access the government payroll.

This deed saw them pocket 348 million shillings according to the Auditor General’s report for the FY 2021/22.

He explains that they later presented them to the Luweero District so that they would join the payroll.

Okello reveals that the Ministry of Public Service has since deleted the affected teachers from the payroll adding that his office has also submitted them to the police for action over forgery.
