The Executive Board and other dignitaries from the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) have on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the Uganda Catholic Secretariat (UCS) at Nsambya where they attended a Eucharistic cerebration with the staff.

During the mass, the Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) His Grace John Baptist Odama noted with desire for each UCS staff and the entire Catholics in Uganda to observe the theme for the SECAM Golden Jubilee Celebration.

Yesterday at Lubaga Cathedral in Kampala, SECAM launched its Golden Jubilee celebrations that are expected to last for a year under the theme, “Family of God in Africa, Celebrate your Jubilee! Proclaim Jesus Christ your Saviour, because it calls for selfless service for all”.

Archbishop Odama, who led the sacrificial mass, said that Uganda shouldn’t consider its gift of being the land of faith lightly but as an opportunity to strengthen the faith and love for one another.

The SECAM President for Archbishop Gabriel Mbilingi from Angola was amazed on visiting some of the martyrs’ shrines in Uganda, challenging everyone to always seek to live with God.

The final celebrations for SECAM Golden jubilee are expected to be held in Uganda on July 29th 2019 in memory of its founder, the blessed Pope John Paul 6th who established it in 1969 upon his visit to Uganda.
