Following the commencement of the Uganda Certificate of Education -UCE exams today morning, the Uganda National Examinations Board -UNEB has confirmed that Senior Four Candidates in the districts of Kassanda and Mubende have also managed to write their first paper as earlier planned.

Over the weekend, President Yoweri Museveni locked down and restricted the movements of people in two districts of Kassanda and Mubende in an effort to contain the spread of the Ebola epidemic.

Kalule says that their teams managed to deliver the examination papers last evening and today candidates managed to write their papers.

She says that the board is working closely with the Ministry of Health, Security and the District Officials to minimize the challenges while scouts and invigilators are advised to seek guidance from the police stations for moving to various examination centers in those two districts.

Senior Four Candidates have on Monday morning begun writing the National Examinations with Mathematics paper one in morning and Mathematics Paper Two in the evening.

Meanwhile, Police warned the public against engaging in any examination malpractices following the commencement of the senior four papers today.

The Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says that they have heavily deployed officers to help UNEB in monitoring the examination exercise in all centers.

He however reports no case of malpractice so far registered, but delivers the examination wishes from the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola to the senior four candidates.

A total of 349,445 candidates registered by the Uganda National Examinations Board -UNEB are expected to participate in writing the Uganda Certificate of Education -UCE from 3703 examination centers with 50.3 percent being males and 49.7 percent females.
