Bishop Christopher Kakooza in his homily noted three things for any jubilee; remembrance, celebration and renewal, which Fr. Kibowa must know, since he has served with humility, happiness and as a role model to others.

Bishop Kakooza said Fr. Kibowa like any other priest must help people get closer to God through evangelization, celebrations of Masses and administering of sacraments in accordance to the principles to the Catholic Church.

Rev. Fr. Ignatius Kibowa started his studies at Nazigo R/C in 1967 and in 1979 joined Kisubi seminary then joined Katigondo Major Seminary in 1985. He was ordained deacon in 1991 and a priest in 1992 only 7 students out of 37 who started studies together at Kisubi Seminary.

Fr. Kibowa was first posted to Muduuma Parish, then JinjaKalooli, Mukono ,Naggalama, Mbikko and now at Lugazi Cathedral Parish as a Parish Priest and Diocesan  Cathedral Administrator and at the same time heading  the married couples movement.

Bishop Kakooza urged him to do more in helping Catholics of age to get the sacrament of holy matrimony.

The seven priests who were ordained together with Fr. Kibowa and are also celebrating silver jubilees in priesthood include; Fr. Godfrey Kawuki, Fr. Aloysius Katwere, Fr. Nicholas Kiruma, Fr. Fred Kiwanuka, Fr. Boniface Lugoloobi, Fr. Eugenio Safari and Fr. John Luke Ssebuliba.

Meanwhile the Former Katikiro of Buganda Daniel Muliika hailed Fr. Kibowa for his dedication towards peace building and exemplary leadership challenging agitators for constitutional amendments of article 102b to be mindful of the works of the Constituent Assembly and think of any changes in the interest of Ugandans.

Bishop Emeritus of Lugazi Diocese Rt. Rev. Matthias Ssekamanya said one cannot understand priesthood unless he knows where he comes from.

He said like Fr. Kibowa who was assisted by a 100 year old Mr. Steven Wagaba for his education many seminaries are in need of assistance and it’s the families to do so.
