Radio Sapientia in one of its core mandates of evangelization and promoting the Catholic faith it held its first special catechism quize dubbed “Akabbinkano ka katikisimu 2017” with the finalist winning himself UGX 1,000,000 in cash and a pilgrimage to Kibeho in Rwanda a renowned place for the Mother Mary Apparitions.

Mr. Joseph Martine Wamala 72, from St. Pius X Parish Masajja in Kampala Archdiocese won the prize and Mr. Simon Peter Mukiibi from Sacrate heart and immaculate heart of Mary Namasuba was the first runners up while the third person Ms. Maria Regina Nakachwa the only woman who made it through the 50 entrants to the finals fell sick at the last time and missed the finals.

The competition that started on July 3rd to September 3rd 2017 had questions drawn from the bible, catechism, church history, saints and Liturgy.

At the finals held at Radio Sapientia Premises at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat Nsambya the Managing Director Radio Sapientia Fr. Eustachius Lwemalika noted the importance of reminding and teaching listeners the catholic faith that faith is one of the moral formation area especially at the time when the youth are over taken up with techonoloy, sports and politics.

Fr. Lwemalika says the Catholic Church has to explore all avenues of disseminating the Gospel and competitions on air with prizes at the end of it is one aspect thought would help to remind youth of their faith as they compete to earn some thing.

The Mayor of Nansana Municipality in Wakiso District Maria Regina Bakitte attributed the wave of crimes mainly among the youth as a result of lack of faith and it starts from the family since parents are always busy to play their full responsibility of nurturing and guiding their children.

She committed support to such programs on Radio Sapientia together with Councilor Joseph Waggala of Makindye division in Kampala .

The proprietor of Angelina and New stiles Bookshops George William Ssenkindu said people need to trace their roots and love their mother language if they are to grow into responsible citizens. He presented his works one of them a book entitled “Muvubuka aggunjuse” that intends to instill faith discipline, understanding and exploring new ideas.

The Pastoral coordinator Kampala Archdiocese Fr. Dr. Richard Mark Ssajjabi who is also the parish priest of St. Pius X Masajja applauded Radio Sapientia for promoting faith which is in line with the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of Kampala Archdiocese that is to be held on October 29th 2017 at the Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo.

The finals attracted close to 200 guests.
