The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Presidential Committee Jessica Ababiku has contested the unfunded priorities in the coming presidential budget 2022/2023.

While appearing before the parliamentary budgets committee, Ababiku noted that out of the required 34.119 billion shillings for planned activities like security, facilitation of Resident District Commissioners and their secretaries, facilitation of presidential advisors and other items, only 4.7bn has been approved leaving a funding gap 29.420bn shillings.

She noted that failure to fully fund these items may lead to poor service delivery given the increasing deployments the government is undertaking in different parts of the country and elsewhere.

According to the budget plan, security was planned 16bn but only 6.9bn was approved, RDCs facilitation 17bn but only 9bn was approved, presidential advisors facilitation 8bn requested but only 3bn approved and among other items.
