President Museveni has directed Police and other security agencies to arrest any Politian found distributing foodstuffs to individuals and communities affected by the lockdown in the interest to protect Ugandans against COVID-19.
He said all opportunistic and irresponsible politicians are distributing food for cheap popularity are very dangerous to the health of the people.
He said the this kind of generosity in form of distributing food or money, people gather around which exposes them to possible positive COVID-19 contacts that may lead to rapid spread of the Pandemic.
Museveni ordered that anybody involved in the distribution of such items will be arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Those trying to take patients to hospitals must also stop because they spread the virus in the process. If they have money, let them contribute it to the Task Force to use in a disciplined and safe way.
He added that In Mbale, the Chinese donated to him two four-wheel drive Jeeps and immediately forwarded them to the Task Force of the anti-corona virus at the same time his Nigerian Friend Mr. Elumelu sent him US$150,000 and he was to utilize it to buy, three (3) four-wheel drive vehicles for the Ministry of Health to use in this effort.
