Pope Francis has urged people to think of and pray for the many people in Yemen, especially children, who are starving to death in the war.

His Holiness who is on a two day official visit to United Arab Emirates says Praying a ‘Hail Mary’ for the people of Yemen, is urgent because there are children who are hungry, thirsty, have no medicine, and are in danger of death.

Francis says he is following the humanitarian crisis in Yemen with great concern, noting that the people of the country are exhausted by the three-year conflict and the lack of access to food.

Yemen, located on the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula, has been in civil war since 2015 affecting about 22 million of the nearly 29 million people in the country who are in need of some humanitarian assistance.

Pope Francis’ the first ever pontiff to visit the Arabian Peninsula arrived in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates where he will also participate in a series of meetings including the Global Conference of Human Fraternity, that was convened by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi then tomorrow Tuesday Pope Francis will lead a Holy Eucharistic Celebration that will be attended by over 120,000 people.
