Police at Kampala Metropolitan Policing Area is investigating a case of suicide by their own officer who allegedly lost the suspect’s money from betting.
According to the police, the deceased is identified as Sadik Hussein Baguma who has been attached to Kisoga Police Station in Mukono and a resident of Namanve police barracks.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan says that on 4th of March this year, the late Baguma bet and lost Shs800, 000, a sum of money which had to be stored for a suspect who was entering custody.
Oweyisigire says that when the deceased failed to raise the money he started threatening to take away his own life and on 8th of March 2024, he was found tightly tied inside his room after committing suicide.
He says that the body is at city mortuary Mulago as investigations continue.
