The Central Public Health Laboratories’ preliminary results for the sample of the suspected poisonous food have shown no signs of bacterial contamination.

The Minister for Health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng says that the results are from some of the samples of urine, cooking oil, blood, super cereal and sugar among others that were collected from the victims in Amudat and Napak district.

Aceng says that they are still waiting for more results from the same laboratories, police, South Africa, Kenya and World Food Programme (MFP) in the next five to seven days for the final declaration.

Three people from Amudat and Napak lost their lives and 262 admitted but later discharged after eating the food in question and developed mental confusion, vomiting, headache, high fever and abdominal pain.

The food was supplied by World Food Programme.
