Parliament is to engage Buganda Kingdom on the Health of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebe II.

This is after the National Unity Platform (NUP) elected councilors petitioned Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga raising concerns over Kabaka Ronald Mutebi’s health condition which seemed warring after appearing a week ago in public at his 66th birthday at Mengo Palace.

Led by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Nakawa Lord Councilor John Mary Ssebuufu, councilors asked parliament to consider extending support to all cultural leaders to avoid unforeseen circumstances.

However, in reply, Kadaga sympathized with Buganda and councilors, promising to engage the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga to find out the condition of Kabaka and how the government can assist.

The Councilors also presented a petition to Kadaga showing dismay over the persistent deduction of KCCA budget saying it’s unfair to Kampala which is the main contributor to the National Budget with over 65% of the revenues.

The forthcoming KCCA budget for the year 2021/2022 has been put at Shs341bn from 400bn shillings in the previous years.

The soon incoming KCCA council is composed of 41-NUP councilors, 8-NRM and 3-FDC councilors.
