Parliament has commended the security agencies for foiling the plans by terrorists to bomb Kampala.

This has been conveyed to parliament as a communication by the Speaker after security agencies over the weekend and on Monday managed to detect and detonate planted bombs by terrorists in areas of Busega, Lungujja and Nateete in Rubaga division.

From this, the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among called on Ugandans to be vigilant and avoid crowded places.

She has also further asked the government to present a report before parliament by Wednesday this week detailing measures taken to curb any likely terrorist plan and guidelines on public places like churches, markets, and others.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party Youth Wing is concerned about the government failure through the security agencies to track the alleged terrorists before they would assemble their devices in their planned targets.

Ismael Kirya, the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) while addressing the media in Kampala on Tuesday noted that security is given a classified budget to invest in all kinds of security systems which can detect a person with sinister motives which is not applied.

He now wonders how security failed to identify those terrorist at the initial stages yet in 2021 police was in position to detect people who were planning to carry out strikes before the swearing in ceremony of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni not forgetting persistent operations against the opposition thus calling upon Ugandans to be vigilant.
