The National Social Security Fund -NSSF has been declared the overall winner of this year’s 2022 Financial Reporting Awards (FiRe) organized by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda -ICPAU.

These awards marked the 12th edition of their nature after having been introduced in 2011 to enhance the quality of financial and business reporting for business growth in Uganda through monitoring compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standards as well as other best practices around the world.

NSSF won for the second time in a row after presenting a detailed digital and highly interactive report with easy leads to navigate.

Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited and Centenary Bank won Silver and Bronze respectively.

These awards, which were first won by Centenary Bank in 2011, have mostly been won by Stanbic Bank five times followed by NSSF four times and once by Umeme, Lion Assurance and Centenary Bank.

Speaking to the congregation at the Awards ceremony in Kampala last evening, the State Minister for Finance in Charge of General Duties Henry Musasizi said that there is a need to support small firms to have book keeping standards and grow in financial reporting.

The ICPAU President Constant Othieno Mayende noted that small firms need to seek advice from qualified accountants on having the standard financial reporting so that they also grow in business.

The 2021 Awards Organizing Committee Chairman, Stephen Ineget hailed NSSF for providing an exemplary report that showed a strategy aimed at creating value, opportunities and managing risks.
