In preparations for the coming women council elections, the National Resistance Movement -NRM has this Thursday held a meeting with the party’s women leaders to discuss and generate consensus on mobilization for winning these polls at all levels.

Those attending the meeting at NRM headquarters Kyadondo road in Kampala, comprised Members of Parliament, District and women leaders at lower levels.

Speaking at the event, the NRM 1st National Vice Chairperson Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo urged them to avoid being greedy and avoid fighting for positions.

He also advised them to be careful of the language they use while mobilizing for support from voters because their environment has changed.

Rosemary Sseninde, the NRM Director Mobilization has appealed to women MPs to monitor the Parish Development Model and also other government programs to ensure that they succeed.

She also urged women to vote for NRM in the coming women council elections to ensure that they benefit in government programs.

 

According to the Electoral Commission road map, the election of women council and committees from village to national level will be held during the period of June to August 2022.

The nomination exercise will be conducted from June 24 to July 1 2022 and campaigns will be held from July 4- 6 2022.

The polling date for the election of five members of the village women committee will take place on July 7th 2022.
