The National Resistance Movement leaders are wondering why police is not apprehending presidential candidates who have defied all electoral regulations and exposed the life of Ugandans to Coronavirus.

The NRM party spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa on phone with Radio Sapientia has said that FDC and NUP candidates Patrick Amuriat and Robert Kyagulanyi have continued to hold mass rallies well knowing that the country is in danger of Coronavirus, currently standing at 145 deaths and over 16,000 total cases.

Mulindwa says police would have arrested them for defying the SOPs because the two candidates have always moved in crowds, without face masks unlike their candidates of the NRM Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.

His assertion comes after a statement by the inspector general of police Martine Okoth Ochola through the police spokes person Fred Enanga warning all District Police Commanders that if they fail to act against the political candidates who violate electoral laws and SOPs will be dealt with.

But groups of the FDC and NUP candidates accuse police for being partisan ever brutalizing them yet the NRM supporters act in the same way.

Meanwhile Civil Societies under the Uganda Coalition of Human Rights Defenders Uganda through Robert Kirenga, the Executive Director of the coalition have tasked the Electoral Commission to ensure that all presidential candidates adhere to the covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures.
