The Non Government Organization (NGOs) in Uganda through their umbrella body Uganda National NGO Forum have launched an initiative doubled Philanthropy for Development aimed at soliciting for aid from well-wishers to support people in need.

It’s should be remembered that on  January 2 2021 President Museveni wrote a letter suspending the activities of the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) an order that has affected the work and operations of NGOs in the country to the extent that many have closed their daily work.

Moses Isooba the Executive director of    NGO Forum says “Philanthropy for Development” is a community led development initiative through community and domestic giving and it’s going to help in mobilizing for funds among other items for the needy.

Isooba adds that currently they are facing tough times ever since the suspension of GDF funds yet most of their work involves spending financial resources.

He has rallied the public to embrace the initiative to save the suffering communities.
