Residents in the districts that make up Greater Masaka region have again developed fears after a spate of attacks and theft by suspected criminals resume to distribute threatening leaflets.

Over 100 suspects were arrested between the month of March and May this year after several night attacks that left about five people killed and many others injures in Bukomansimbi district before spreading to Kalungu and lately in Lwengo and Masaka.

The Police Spokesperson Emiliano Kayima says that after reports, a joint operation by all security agencies was conducted last week in Masaka- Nyendo where 152 people were arrested and a number of suspected stolen house hold items recovered including, mattresses, TV sets and bags of cement.

Kayima further told journalists at Naguru that the police had foiled the crime of car number plates from Kampala but it has again resurfaced in the greater Masaka region.

He says thieves always steal number plates from vehicles and later claim money from their victims.

He warned the public not to fall victim of the thieves, who always trick them into paying money.
