Parliament has approved the appointment of Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo as the New Chief Justice and immediately vowed to increase access to justice.

Dollo who has been serving as a deputy chief Justice with the former CJ Bert Katurebe who retire in July this year and President Museveni 0n 20th this month appointed after the approval by the parliamentary appointments committee chaired by speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga, owiny-Dollo said he is to prioritise fair and free justice to all Ugandans.

Him and his newly appointed deputy Chief Justice Richard Buteera have expressed the need of recruiting more judges to deal with the case backlogs

In another development Parliament has this afternoon sown in the recently appointed minister for Elderly and Disabled Sarah Kanyike at a brief ceremony presided over by the speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga who has handed over instruments of power a constitution and Rules of procedures.

Kanyike before appointment, she served as an opposition in Democratic Party and also deputy Lord Mayor to Erias Lukwago.

Meanwhile Bugiri Municipality Mp Asuman Basalirwa has appealed to Minister Kanyike to serve the country diligently as they pledged full support to her.
