Muslims clerics have called for peace and reconciliation if Uganda is to be peaceful.

Leading the Ed-Aduha prayers the clerics advised in relation to some riots have been experienced especially in Kampala over the brutality of the security agencies to civilians and members of Parliament who were arrested and tortured at the close of Arua municipality by-election on August 13, 2018.

The last rally cost one life of one Yasin Kawuma a driver of the Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine after the alleged clash of the opposition Forum for Democratic change, a pressure group of the People Power and the National Resistance Movement. In the process one of president Museveni’s security car’s windscreen was smashed prompting the arrest of members of parliament and over 30 civilians said to have been behind the clash.

The election for the seat that fell vacant after the gruesome murder of Ibrahim Abiriga and his brother Saidi Congo in Kawanda Wakiso district on June 8, 2018 ended on August 15, 2018 with the jailed Mr. Kassiano Wadri who contested on Independent ticket winning the Arua Municipality by-elections with 6,528 votes representing 38% of the total votes cast, NRM’s Ms. Nusura Tiperu became second with 4,763 (27%) followed by Robert Ejiku (Independent) with 2,703 (15%).
