The office of the Government’s Chief Whip has summoned the National Resistance Movement (NRM) parliamentary caucus on Thursday 28th September 2023 at State House Entebbe.

Details of the meeting remained scanty by the press time but the caucus is expected to be chaired by the party chairperson Museveni, the President.

In the letter signed by the Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua, all NRM MPs who will attend have to undergo a COVID-19 test at the parliament Conference Hall B.

Therefore, Parliament which had been set to resume work after a three weeks recess on the orders of the Speaker Annet Anita Among since August 29th will be extended until October 3rd 2023.

The recess was after the Government failure to schedule business for Parliament, rendering the house redundant.

It was from this last plenary session that Speaker Among issued a directive to send the house for a three weeks recess to enable them monitor Government policies like Parish Development Model-PDM, the 1bnshs released to local governments for the rehabilitation and construction of roads among others.

She also directed that no parliamentary committee should transact business during the recess period and all MPs must be in their constituencies.
