The President and Commander in Chief of the Armed forces Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has again shifted the blame of Terrorism that is destabilizing African Countries to unjustified border lines created by Colonialists.

In his address on the security situation in Uganda at State House Nakasero on Thursday evening, Museveni said unjustified border lines close to one another have given a safe haven to armed groups, criminal gangs and terrorists who operate from one country or administrative area to another causing mayhem and suffering to civilians.

He specifically pointed out the ADFs who  have for long been terrorizing Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo using the borders separating the two countries to attack innocent civilians, kill, collect revenue and carry out illegal mineral trade and forest resources to get money and weaponry.

To fight them Museveni say four points must be concentrated on; a strong army in Uganda that can defeat any attack, strong surveillance team both human and technical, maximum political cohesion of Ugandans and Pan African cooperation that will also allow friendly working with neighbouring governments to pacify the region especially the East African Region.

He has also urged media in Uganda to avoid working against the government interests by giving what he termed as ‘shocking headlines’ in the event when such terrorists lay ambushes or sporadic attacks. He says such media is on watch.

In June 2023, the joint security team arrested 20 suspected collaborators of the rebel Allied Democratic Forces in connection to the gruesome murder of 42 people at Lhubiriha Secondary School in Kasese.
