MPs direct Education Ministry to feed school-going-children in Karamoja

The parliamentary committee on Government Assurance and Implementation has directed the ministry of education and sports to make up a budget for feeding school going children in Karamoja.

The directive was issued by the committee Deputy Chairperson who is also the Member of Parliament for Kalungu West Joseph Ganzaga Ssewungu while interfacing with officials from the ministry of education led by the State Minister of Primary Education Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu .

Ssewungu said that this intervention would keep children in Karamoja sub-region at school and stop them from flocking the streets of urban centers like Kampala and other cities.

He also urged the ministry of education officials to stop acting unprofessionally while transferring heads of schools who are left with only 1 to 3 years to retire.
