The Chairperson of the Committee of Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) Abdu Katuntu has ordered that Justine Bagyenda, the former Executive Director in charge of Supervision in Bank of Uganda, deposits her passports with parliament for misleading legislatures about her travels.

Bagyenda first skipped the committee on Friday last week where she was supposed to present inventory reports on closed banks specifically on Green Land Bank, ICB and Co-operative Bank after discovering that no legal document authorizing their close was present.

She was summoned to appear on Tuesday, instead directed her lawyer Robert Kirunda to present a letter to COSASE Chairperson indicating that she was still in the US until December attending a mental health conference which Katuntu objected and issued fresh summons for her to appear tomorrow, November 28.

Committee members who include; Elijah Okupa, Kasilo MP and Francis Mwijukye, the MP for Buhweju questioned Bagyenda’s action, alleging that they have information that she is in Nairobi saying it’s high time for parliament to engage Interpol to apprehend Bagyenda.

The Kitgum Municipality MP Beatrice Anywar said Bagyenda was taking the committee for a ride suggesting that all witnesses that are going to appear before the committee should be banned from international travel.
