The Woman Member of Parliament for Kalangala district who also doubles as the Shadow Minister for Information, Hellen Nakimuli has vowed to push for the establishment of a Media Fund through committees and on the floor of Parliament.
She disclosed this during the celebration marking the annual May 3rd World Press Freedom Day in Kampala.
This followed complaints from the President of the Uganda Journalists Association-UJA, Mathias Rukundo who revealed that he has engaged various Parliamentary Committees but there are no results to this request yet this can help journalists to borrow and fulfill their dreams and goals.
In response, Nakimuli noted that as they continue to push for a Media Fund, journalists need to be professional and passionate as they do their work.
Commenting on the matter of journalists working without pay, Nakimuli urged them to brand themselves in a manner that is respectful so that they are also respected.
