The Police’s Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) has summoned the Buwekula County Member of Parliament Pascal Mbabazi together with the Mubende district Chairperson Michael Muhereza Ntambi over the murder of two locals at Kilwanyi village, Kilwanyi parish, Kiruma Sub County, Mubende district.
It is alleged that two people identified as Milly Naava Namutebi (54) the Landlord and her husband Abudallah Kayizzi were murdered in the morning hours of 31st of July, 2023 due to land disputes.
According to the police, preliminary findings indicate that the two deceased along with their two sons, Muzafaru Ssekamate and Ibrahim Kawuma were attacked by a group of about 30 individuals led by one Benjamin Tumusiime who left both Namutebi and her husband hacked to death but the sons escaped with serious injuries sustained from the incident.
Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson while addressing the press today noted that they have established that the land conflicts were fueled by some of the area leaders who include MP Mbabazi and the district Chairperson Muhereza.
Enanga says so far five suspects have been charged to court with cases of murder and attempted murder in regards to the same incident.
He says they have also got a written statement from the Karuma Sub County Councilor Steven Ahimbisibwe in regards to this incident as they continue to hunt for other 11 suspects.
