The Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization Evelyn Anite, has blamed the district Leaders and Parish Chiefs for delaying the distribution of the Parish development model (PDM) Funds to beneficiaries.
While At Boma Grounds in Yumbe District at the launch of the Financial Technology (Fintech) solution to accelerate agribusiness in Uganda which targets over 18000 smallholder farmers, Anite, said the PDM funds was rolled out to help Ugandans improve their social economic status but some Authorities are derailing the government efforts.
Yumbe district is one of the districts that have not distributed PDM money to beneficiaries and Anite directed that the authority’s fast track the process to have the funds distributed or they risk facing a disciplinary action.
Government has already given out UGX 6 billion to cater for the 26 Sub-counties in Yumbe districts.
Asiku Abdul-mutalib the LC 5 chairman Yumbe district said the district has received the PDM money but only 5 sub counties out of the 26 have been trained about the program, leaving 21 behind which has delayed the whole process.
