Martyrs day celebration activities kick off

Preliminary activities ahead of this year’s Uganda Martyrs day celebration have officially started at the Uganda Martyrs’ Minor Basilica at Munyonyo, Makindye division.

The 9 day prayer dubbed Uganda Martyrs Novena has officially started on Wednesday May 25^th and will be concluded on June 2^nd.

The Minor Basilica has also organized a Martyrs run that will cover 5kilometers and 10 Kilometers from Munyonyo to St. Balikudembe Market that will take place on Saturday May 28th.

The activities have been launched at Munyonyo and are to be conducted concurrently with those organized by the animating diocese of Fort Portal, which on this Saturday will lead a delegation of pilgrims in a “Walk of Faith” from Munyonyo to St. Matia Mulumba Old Kampala.

According to Aloysius Tamale, the Spokesperson of the 2022 Martyr’s day celebrations at Munyonyo Minor Basilica, the run is for free and all the kits will be available to the participants.

All the Martyrs day celebration activities are held under the theme “Baptized and Sent to Witness Christ with Love and Hope”.
