The police at Nsangi are investigating a double murder and attempted suicide that took place Friday morning at Kasenge, Kikajjo, Nakirama in Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District.
It is alleged that at around 4am, one Shaban Musisi attempted to rape his housemaid Scovia Abed aged 15 who made an alarm that attracted Ruth Nakazi, 40, the suspect’s wife which angered the man and he held a hammer and hit the wife several times until she died before he turned to Scovia who also succumbed to the injuries.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that after the incident, the suspect fled to a nearby bush, but he was later arrested by the community members.
He says that the suspect allegedly took poison before arrest which has affected his health but he is now admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital undergoing treatment as investigations go on.
A bottle containing suspected poison has been recovered in his house and subsequently forwarded to the Government Analytical Laboratory for analysis while the hammer used in the murder has been recovered and taken as an exhibit as the two bodies were conveyed to the KCCA mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem.
