Lawyers for the re-arrested suspects in the murder of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi have petitioned Justice Stephen Musota TO the High Court demanding their clients to be released.

Addressing the media in Kampala, Anthony Wameli, a Senior Partner and advocate in the Wameli and Company Advocates and Solicitors says that in their application, they ask court to direct security agencies and Attorney General to release their clients and also to justify the detention.

This week, the outgoing Police Spokesperson Asan Kasingye admitted of the force being responsible for detaining the four suspects at Nalufenya detention centre include, Umaru Maganda, Ahmed Sefuka, Ibrahim Kisa and Abdul Majidu Ojegere.

Wameli says that they filed this application on November 9 this year asking their clients to be released by November 21 after being denied rights to access medical care, meeting their relatives and lawyers which he terms of illegal detention.

However, Geoffrey Turyamusiima says that they have plans of sueing Attorney General, individual security officers and security agencies for involving in the illegal arrests of their clients.

He warns that security agencies should respect people’s rights, Judiciary and rule of law buy producing their clients to court.
