Police have noted that the shootings happened last week were not as a result of organized crimes but were isolated incidents.

Last week, police registered four cases of gun violence and random shootings across the country which involved both private security guards and police officers due to misunderstandings among other issues.

The last incident of shooting happened in Mukono on Saturday where a police officer identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police Dismus Tibangola shot and injured one Uganda Christian University (UCU) student, Natasha Naggayi, who mistakenly attempted to open a door which she thought that belonged to his Boyfriend Ashiraf Bandisha.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that they have established that these shootings are due to petty conflicts between the suspects and the victims which call for the review of how guns are used by security operatives.

He now says that they are working with other sister security agencies and private organizations to suppress the aggressive conducts of both police officers and private security guards in order to reduce the cases of gun violence which have occurred in the country.

Enanga also says that they have forwarded the file of this Case to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution to determine the fate of the arrested Police officer.
