National Unity Platform-NUP Party Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine has pledged to end discrimination against Muslims in Uganda once elected in to power.

He said this while at Kibuli Mosque where Muslims and well-wishers have converged to bid farewell to the fallen Muslim Scholar Dr. Abdunoor Anas Kaliisa who collapsed and died at his home last evening at Kawempe Mbogo.

Kyagulanyi says a lot of injustices has been done to Muslims in Uganda which includes among others denying them bail when charged, the unexplained killings of high ranking Muslim clerics and the presumption that Muslims are guilty on arrest contrary to norm that one is innocent until proven guilty regardless of their religion.

He has promised to empower young Muslim leaders by appointing them into powerful positions and to promote love, peace and respect for all Ugandans during his reign as President of Uganda.

Other presidential aspirants like Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu and Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde made similar pronouncements while addressing hundreds of mourners who disregarded the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures.

The central Government was represented by the Second Deputy Prime Minister Al Haj Kirunda Kivejinja and the State House Anti Corruption Unit Head Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema while Buganda Kingdom was represented by the First Deputy Katikkiro, Al Haj Twaha Kaawaase who all commended the late Sheikh Kaliisa for living an exemplarily life.

Meanwhile, the Titular head of Muslims in Uganda, Prince Kassim Nakibinge urged all Ugandans and especially the security personnel to promote peace and desist from violent actions during and after elections to ensure a peaceful country after the 3 month exercise.

 

Sheikh Dr. Abdunoor Anas Kaliisa died at the age of 70, he will be laid to rest on Friday, November 6th, 2020 at 12 pm at his ancestral home in Nyakahita-Rwengoma, Ruhaama County in Ntungamo District.

 

Shortly after the prayers at Kibuli Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi announced through is social media that his manifesto launch that was to be held tomorrow Friday November 6, 2020 at Kakoba division, Mbarara City has been rescheduled to Saturday in respect to the burial of Sheik Anas Kaliisa.
