The Deputy LC 5 Chairperson of Kiruhura district is behind bars for allegedly raping a 28 year old Student, Police have said.
The suspect is identified Hudson Atuhiire 30 year old.
According to the police, the suspect exchanged contact with the victim when he met them on 8th of this month while in Rwentondo, Kakoba Ward in Mbarara City as they asked for directions from her to Golden leaf bar when travelling in a motor vehicle with registration number UAT 238 Q.
Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesman says that in the course of last week, the suspect called the victim to take her out for a drink but ended up raping her.
Meanwhile, the Police in Busoga North arrested a former Buyende West Member of Parliamentary aspirant together with an army officer from the Uganda People Defence Force officer over aggravated robbery.
Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that the suspect identified as Vincent Ssempa together with three others including his driver one Isaac, Robert Musoke and Nimrod Tiyo, a UPDF officer attached to Fisheries Protection Unit were arrested in an attempted robbery and fraud in a mercury deal where they wanted to steal a German stove while in Buyende district.
