Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has named Nakivubo Place Road after the Late John Ssebaana Kizito in remembrance of his tearlessly efforts to the development of Kampala city.

The Motion was moved by the Lord Mayor of Kampala Erias Lukwago and seconded by Councilors Doreen Nyanjula, Bruhana Byaluhanga and Kennedy Okello who all praised the deceased as a man who fought hard to put Kampala city at the peak.

This was during the paying of respect to the body of the former Mayor John Ssebaana Kizito at city hall, who passed on early this week at Nakasero Hospital after suffering a brain stroke for two weeks.

Lukwago noted that KCCA is to start a culture of naming roads and placing of monuments in the city as a way of emulating the good work done by great leaders in Kampala.

However, Mayors under their Umbrella Alliance of African Mayors’ Initiative for Community Action on AIDS at the Local Level (AMICAALL) through Kawempe Mayor Emmanuel Sserunjjogi Owedembe praised the work done by the Late Ssebaana.

KCCA contributed 3 million shillings towards the burial arrangements. His body has been taking to lay in state at Parliament.

Meanwhile, parliament presided over by the Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah accorded state funeral and the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda moved a motion of resolution for parliament to pay tribute to the late Ssebaana.

The motion has been seconded by the majority number of MPs both for the NRM and the Democratic Party (DP) Chief whip in parliament Joseph Ssewungu praised Late Kizito Ssebana his guidance and uniting members of the party during the trying moments.

Among others included the Minister for Constitutional Affairs Kahinda Otafiire who described Ssebaana as a hard working man right from the university who inspired many. The former finance minister Syda Bumba said Ssebaana was the first Ugandan to build a storied building in Kampala Sure house where State Wide Insurance Company SWICO is located a gesture that gave many Ugandans a push to acquire plots and build big buildings besides starting up businesses.
